There will be an estimated 214,000 new cases of breast cancer in 2007 in the US. Around 40,000 will die from it. Breast cancer is the second deadliest cancer in women (behind lung cancer). </h4><br>National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) provides the perfect opportunity for those in the beauty industry to educate and bring awareness to this deadly disease. Scienceuticals is showing our support by donating a percentage of our profits for the month of October to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and turning our web site pink in a display of support. <br><br>The month is designed for supporting those battling the disease, honoring survivors, calling attention to medical milestones, and raising funds for further outreach and research. In 1985, the event began as a week-long campaign, utilizing news reports and brochures as well as testimony to Congress about the importance of access to mammography. The event s impact increased with televised public service announcements by former first lady and breast cancer survivor Betty Ford and her daughter Susan Ford Bales. Please join us in supporting this deadly disease.<br><br> <strong>Breast Cancer Awareness - Facts & Tips </strong><br><br>Every 2 minutes, there is a new breast cancer diagnosis.<br><br>Every 14 minutes, a life is lost to the disease.<br><br> Over 40,000 people will die this year; about 400 of them will be men.<br><br>85% of all diagnoses have no family history.<br><br>1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer<br><br>Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women between ages 40 and 55.<br><br> <strong>A Snapshot of Breast Cancer</strong><br><br>Incidence and Mortality Rate Trends<br><br>In the United States, breast cancer is the most common non-skin cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women. Each year, a small number of men also are diagnosed with or die from breast cancer. Although the breast cancer diagnosis rate has increased, there has been a steady drop in the overall breast cancer death rate since the early 1990's.<br><br>While the incidence rate is lower for African Americans than Whites, the mortality rate is higher.
